Mission Statement

Binky Patrol is an all-volunteer, national, non-profit organization making and distributing homemade blankets to children born HIV+, drug-addicted, battling chronic and terminal illnesses, those who are abused, victims of violent crimes, living in foster care, or experiencing trauma of any kind.

About This Cause

Binky Patrol is a national non-profit 100% volunteer organization with no paid staff. We provide new, soft, handmade, washable blankets to children in need, from newborns to 18 years of age. The blankets are given as gifts and a reminder that these children are not invisible, not forgotten, that they matter, and that there is someone who cares about them. Donations we receive can be earmarked for our specific chapters. 80% goes to the chapter, 20% goes to national for shared operating expenses benefitting all chapters such as our PO Box, printing, website hosting, software licenses, office equipment. We encourage companies to consider team building events, in addition to the monetary donation to help build community. Blankets are a very easy and social thing to make. One blanket can change the life of a child! One blanket takes less than an hour to make, depending on the type. If you are making blankets too: These blankets many times go to critically ill children; all blankets must be new, fragrant, and smoke-free, with no pet hair or dander. For more details, see our national website, www.BinkyPatrol.org ALL ages and skills are welcome. We ask that you make blankets that are soft, washable, and from the heart (double-check for pins). Blankets can be sewn, knitted, crocheted, quilted (fancy sewing), tied (fleece type with knots). We ask that they do not contain political or "questionable" messages if you are decorating squares with pens to include. We had to give the Deadpool binkies to residents at the VA - they laughed. The fabric was actually a bit violent - so no good for kids, but the vets saw the irony in it. The key was they came from the heart. Our volunteers and chapter leaders have a beautiful sense of humor and put so much love into everything they do to serve the babies, kids, and teens who need that reminder that they matter, are not invisible, and are not forgotten - that someone cares about them. Thank you for considering helping us. If you are not near a chapter, you can volunteer remotely. We can guide you through that. A lot of people do that, even for community service hours. We are able to verify them remotely.
