Mission Statement
Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Dorchester, Boston City Singers’ mission is to provide the highest level of musical training and wide ranging performance opportunities to young people ages 4-18, inspire personal development, celebrate diversity and foster good will. Our vision is to transform the lives of inner city young people one voice at a time, inspiring and developing each heart to live with compassion in a world of differences.
About This Cause
Boston City Singers strength lies in our commitment to social justice and our acceptance of differences across age, socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, ability, gender, and gender preference. We welcome children from any background. We expect a lot from our singers as they rehearse in three metro-Boston locations. They commit to weekly rehearsals of increasing rigor using proven methods for instruction. They achieve excellence by mastering a demanding curriculum and challenging repertoire of sacred, secular, and traditional music, and commissioned new work. They perform at neighborhood, citywide, regional, and international concerts and festivals, develop pride in their talents, and foster meaningful connections with young people different from themselves.
