About This Cause

Who We Serve: We serve 102 boys of color in grades 6-8. Students come from all over New York City, with the majority from predominantly under-served neighborhoods in the Bronx, Upper Manhattan, Harlem, Brooklyn and Queens. A third of families earn less than $25,000 per year; more than half live below the poverty level; and over 80% earn less than NYC’s median income level. Impact: - 100% goto a prominent high school - 95% graduate from a four year college on time - Our graduates are lawyers, teachers, activists, doctors, engineers and leaders in their communities. Cost: GJA is a private school with a tuition of $25,000 a year. Families only pay what they can, as little as $250 a year. 100% of families receive deep financial aid. Since we collect little tuition, we raise 90% of our annual operating budget from generous donors who believe in quality education as a means to greater racial and economic equality and a brighter future. Your support for GJA offers students a life-changing education and the promise of a bright future at the nation’s top high schools and colleges. A small donation today can grow into a substantial future education—a true return on investment.
