Mission Statement
At Daybreak Beach Club, we believe that healing ourselves creates the capacity to help one another and, ultimately, to heal the planet. We use play, nature, and community as tools for healing and connection—especially for youth and people of color who have historically been excluded from outdoor spaces. By fostering a sense of belonging through programs rooted in surf therapy, environmental education, and joy, we empower individuals to discover their own reasons for caring—for the ocean, for others, and for themselves.
About This Cause
Daybreak Beach Club is a nonprofit rooted in the belief that access to nature is a human right—and that healing is a collective act. Based in Southern California, we provide inclusive, community-centered programming at the intersection of wellness, environmental education, and coastal joy. Our core offerings include surf therapy, beach days, mindfulness workshops, and educational experiences that help youth—especially BIPOC and underserved communities—build meaningful relationships with the ocean and each other. What sets us apart is our emphasis on joy as resistance. We believe that nature-based experiences shouldn't just be about conservation or discipline—they should also be about play, presence, and healing. Rather than telling people why they should care about the environment, we create opportunities for them to discover their own connections, through fun and culturally responsive programming that celebrates their identities. We’re building a world where everyone feels like they belong on the beach—and that their voice matters in the movement for a more just and sustainable planet.
