Mission Statement

Seeking to put God's love into action, Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

About This Cause

Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity is built on the foundation of bringing people together. With community support since 1986, we’ve built 168 homes and repaired seven homes, all with the express purpose of building homes, communities, and hope. Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity offers a unique opportunity for hardworking families to build and buy their own homes. Families that partner with us build their own homes alongside volunteers and purchase their homes with affordable mortgages. Community support makes these homes possible for families. Safe, decent, and affordable homes enable these families to achieve security, stability, and self-reliance for generations. Our ReStore sells new and used, donated building supplies, furniture, paint, lighting, and much more. Our ReStore helps fund the overhead costs, new home construction, and Home Repair Program of Pikes Peak Habitat. The net proceeds from the ReStore helped fund six Habitat homes in the 2019 fiscal year and will continue to fund more homes and repairs in the future. Volunteers play a fundamental role on our construction sites and at our ReStore, helping us carry out our mission to build homes, communities, and hope for families in need. Volunteers build 90% of every home we build and are critical to our Home Repair Program and operations at our ReStore. Our Home Repair Program focuses on serving cost-burdened homeowners, veterans, and seniors so they can continue to live in safe, decent homes for years to come. In 2018, the US Census Bureau counted 82,235 households as cost-burdened in El Paso County with little to no income for critical repairs to maintain safe and healthy living conditions. This need grows larger every day, especially with the current health and economic crisis when families are forced to make do or do without. For an existing homeowner who is cost-burdened, home repairs are often an extremely low priority and the repairs are put off. This can lead to home structural issues, accessibility issues, and dangerous living conditions. Support for the program helps preserve homes, revitalize neighborhoods, and build a better El Paso County!
