About This Cause

For over 35 years, Kids’ Voice of Indiana has advocated, educated and protected children and their families in Indiana. The signature programs for Kids’ Voice are based on three pillars: Advocacy (The Bette J. Dick Guardian ad Litem Program for Kids), Education (The Derelle Watson-Duvall Children’s Law Center) and Protection (The Jenny Miller Safe Child Parenting Time Program. Kids’ Voice provides advocacy for child victims by serving as the voice for their best interests in custody, guardianship, adoption and parenting time cases. These children are victims of abuse, neglect, or experiencing some sort of potential trauma in their current home life. The Guardian ad Litem (GAL) program provides court-appointed GAL representation for children involved in civil court cases, such as guardianship, adoption, divorce, and paternity. The GAL program is staffed by attorneys and 300+ volunteers who serve as advocates for the children before the court. Kids’ Voice provides education through The Children’s Law Center of Indiana. The Law Center presents legal information and training for legal professionals, social service providers and the community. Under this program, Kids’ Voice has established the Community Mobile Law Program that has Kids’ Voice staff attorneys providing free legal clinics at six different community centers throughout Marion County, and the Parenting Coordination Clinics to assist parents in working through conflicts so they can successfully co-parent. Kids’ Voice provides protection for children with the Safe Child Parenting Time (SCPT) Program that offers safe and fully supervised parenting time (visitation) for children to visit with a parent as required by a court order or the parties’ written agreement. The premise of the SCPT Program is to prevent further victimization against the child and maintain familial relationships. Families served by the SCPT Program are often experiencing issues with domestic violence, substance abuse, physical or sexual abuse, neglect and/or mental health.
