Mission Statement
Senior & Family Services' purpose to co-ordinate, develop and provide programs, services and activities designed to improve the quality of life and assist in maintaining independence for all ages, with emphasis on persons 60 years of age and over.
About This Cause
Senior & Family Services provides Meals on Wheels, In-Home services, medical transportation (Med-X-Press), and recreation centers in Washington, Odon, Petersburg and Winslow located in Indiana. Our In-Home services send our worker to a client's home for either homemaker or attendant care services. In-Home services are geared to allowing a client to remain in their own homes as long as possible. Often just a little help will allow them to do so. Our Med-X-Press transportation program provides transportation to doctor's appointments in the state of Indiana. Most of our clients are elderly or disabled, and include dialysis and cancer treatment patients. Offering this services also is a huge help to family members of those clients. At the recreation senior centers we offer activities, seminars, lunches, occasional breakfasts, VITA/TEC tax preparation and more, most at no cost. We also offer SHIP services, which helps people with their Medicare questions, and sees if they qualify for Medicare Savings Programs, and help them through the process. Finally, we offer Meals on Wheels at the Washington Center, delivering meals 3 days a week. Studies have shown that adult recreation has a mind-body connection that benefits today's active seniors "aging in place" by promoting their physical and mental well-being. Participating in a variety of activities keeps the senior active, interested and mentally stimulated. This is what Senior & Family Services is all about.
