Mission Statement
Timmy builds healthier communities through a community of global leaders. Since 1997, Timmy's model has focused on sustainable continuity of care and investment in local partners to ensure health care access to more than 100,000 patients.
About This Cause
Timmy Global Health is an international NGO based in Indianapolis, IN that supports programming in Ecuador, Guatemala, Dominican Republic and Nigeria. Timmy works through local non-profits to understand the needs of the community and provide sustainable health solutions to patients. Our community of global leaders includes more than 30 college based chapters around the US that support our work through volunteerism, advocacy and fundraising. These groups, along with teams of medical professionals travel on medical service trips to provide primary care in partnership with local doctors and nurses. As an organization that sends volunteers abroad, we believe that the role of the volunteer is that of an equal partner who helps local leadership meet the needs of their communities. Timmy's has a continuity of care model. We have full time Medical Programs Coordinators that live and work in our communities with our local partners. We employ a cloud based EMR system that provides access to medical history during our consistent medical service brigades where we visit the same communities every 2-3 months. Our robust referral program provides follow up for any patients that need chronic or specialty care. Finally, our staff help coordinate a team of community health workers and local volunteers that help provide health literacy, prevention programming, nutrition, and other public health related services. As a part of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Timmy is mainly focused on Goal # 3 related to Good Health and Well Being, while also being involved with Goal #6 on Clean water and sanitation, as well as Goal #10 focused on reducing inequality. Timmy operates as a Three Star charity by Charity Navigator.
