Mission Statement
Mission 25 is providing a pathway for recovery, prevention and support for those at risk of displacement in Northeast Indiana. Our vision is to foster long-term success for those we serve. Our values revolve around recovery, prevention and transition.
About This Cause
Mission 25 will serve single men and women and single mothers and children. Of those served, approximately 50% will be referred to Mission 25 by a criminal justice partner (probation, work release, home detention and/or formerly incarcerated); 30-35% will be referred to us by the Department of Child Services; 7-10% referred to us by a mental health or drug/alcohol rehabilitation center. Furthermore, we recognize that a percentage of individuals may be homeless based on HUD standards, however, their state of homelessness can most likely be tied to 1-2 of the 4 barriers we work with throughout shelter services (mental/behavioral health, substance use disorders, developmental/physical disabilities and/or domestic violence). We anticipate that 80-85% served will have a mental and/or behavioral health barrier; 75% will have a substance use disorder; 30% will have a developmental and/or physical health barrier; 50% will be a victim of domestic violence. Furthermore, 80% of eligible individuals will receive therapeutic care while participating in our shelter services programming at Mission 25. At Mission 25, approximately 92-95% of those served have received a mental health diagnosis either before entering our program or while participating in our program. With that said, Mission 25 identifies mental illness as a barrier for the simple fact that barriers can be overcome and obstacles can be knocked down and/or navigated through. We believe that with the right combination of motivation, navigation, encouragement, therapeutic care and accountability, individuals have the capacity to reach for greater mental wellness overall. We have witnessed firsthand that when individuals have the right formal and informal supports in place, they accomplish great things! Therefore, our individualized programming focuses on the individual’s mental wellness from beginning to end and they learn that their long-term success is within their reach. Another demographic being served through Mission 25 programming is through our outreach location, the Miami Village Community Center (MVCC) located within the Miami Village Mobile Home Park. The mobile home park is considered a “hot spot” within our county with the highest rate of criminal activity, child abuse and neglect, drug/alcohol abuse, generational poverty, and a population of registered sex offenders. Mission 25 is providing after-school programming for grades K-8th grade and available to senior high students as well. Furthermore, in the summer of 2021 we will offer adult programming (GED classes, job training, parenting classes, and recovery support groups) for those who need and/or request additional supports. The MVCC is a collaborative partnership with the Community Foundation of Whitley County, the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI), Whitley County Superior and Circuit Court Judges, and the Whitley County Consolidated School System.
