About This Cause
Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet is a faith-based organization providing services to people in need and calling others of good will to do the same. It has been an anchor for those in the seven counties it serves for more than 50 years. A 501©(3) nonprofit social service organization, it provides human services in Will, DuPage, Grundy, Kendall, Kankakee, Ford and Iroquois Counties in Illinois. Founded in 1947, it was incorporated and licensed as a child welfare agency in 1962. It has been fully accredited by the National Council on Accreditation since 2003. The Agency employs 265 paid staff and utilizes over 4,000 volunteers. Catholic Charities helps people of all faiths and beliefs. All those who come to us for help are served without regard to creed, lifestyle or religious views. Programs include: 2 homeless shelters; emergency services; counseling services; transitional and permanent supportive housing; veteran programs, senior services; case management; Early Head Start/Head Start programs, affordable housing and our mobile food pantry program. In FY 2016, the Agency served over 64,000 individuals. Catholic Charities programs serve impoverished individuals and families in disadvantaged, underserved communities and are designed to promote self-sufficiency, human dignity, and integrity for all people while at the same time empowering our clients to achieve what is necessary to live satisfying and productive lives.
