About This Cause
The Arc of the Quad Cities Area's mission is to empower people with disabilities to believe in their own unique abilities and achieve their full potential by providing quality, innovative services that focus on advocacy, independence, employment, meaningful community life and personal happiness. The Arc has been servicing the Quad Cities since 1952 by a group of parents who wanted their children's rights recognized and their independence encouraged. Since that time, The Arc has grown in size and scope to become a leading advocate and comprehensive service provider for individuals with disabilities. The Arc is proud of the accomplishments it has made to expand opportunities available to individuals with disabilities in the Quad Cities Area. The Arc's programs are designed to meet a full spectrum of needs while encouraging independence and autonomy. The Arc's programs are staffed by skilled, caring people who value the well-being of the individuals we serve. Every day 225 staff members embody "respect, commitment, initiative, teamwork, flexibility, and excellence." The Arc's programs include: Residential Services, Developmental Services, Respite Services, Supported Employment, and Assistive Technology. Residential Services: 24/7 care in CILA homes and Heritage Fifty Three throughout Illinois Quad Cities Developmental Training: Provides skill training in a structured learning environment to help people with developmental disabilities succeed in the workplace, home, and social life. The Arc has 3 Developmental Training centers in the Quad Cities at Opportunity Center, The Arc Building and Arc Industries which concentrates on work services. Respite Services: Provides recreation and socialization opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Supported Employment: Provides the training, and onsite instruction to get and keep a job in the community.
