Mission Statement
The Fargo Youth Hockey Association was established in 1988 and was formed to facilitate the development of hockey skills for all the youth of Fargo. The Fargo Youth Hockey Association (FYHA) has been the parent organization for the "Fargo Freeze" since 2011. In 2011 the Fargo Flyers, Fargo Raiders, and Fargo All-City officially merged under the FYHA name and now services over 900 families in Fargo.
About This Cause
The mission of the Fargo Youth Hockey Association is to promote, develop and administer a youth hockey program. This program is meant to serve the youth of Fargo who reside within the boundaries of the Corporation and petitioning players who reside outside the boundaries of the Corporation. The Corporation's principal purpose is to provide the athletes in the appropriate age group the opportunity to have fun participating in hockey by offering (i) high quality coaching, (ii) adequate ice time for practice and skill development, and (iii) exposure to advanced competition through participation in high caliber games and tournaments. FYHA currently offers hockey programs at the following levels: Termites (boys and girls age 4-6) Mites and 8U Girls (age 6-9) Squirts and 10U Girls (age 9-11) PeeWees and 12U Girls (age 12 and under) Bantams and 1tU Girls (age 14 and under)) Junior Gold (18 and under) Approximately 650 players from the Fargo area participate in these programs each year. During a typical hockey season FYHA will host 9 tournaments which range from Squirt/10U to Bantam/15U. Along with the tournaments, approximately 400 Freeze games are played on Fargo rinks each winter. These games include skaters from North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Colorado, Wisconsin, Iowa, Montana, Wyoming, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan.
