About This Cause
India Literacy Project (ILP) was founded in 1990 in the USA by a group of young Non-Resident Indians. With its mission to be 'A Catalyst for 100% literacy in India', ILP is a developmental support organization that works in partnership with local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to strengthen the Government schools and achieve scale more efficiently. ILP plays multiple roles, that of a support partner for the NGOs for training and governance, a knowledge partner for other foundations by developing innovative content and programs, and a collaborator with the Government for scaling programs. The goal is to build sustainable processes by strengthening the community, to identify and address the gaps in the delivery of education services, and to bring about systemic changes through advocacy.
