About This Cause
Hospice is a philosophy of care which ensures people who are diagnosed with life-limiting illnesses and who are no longer engaged in curative treatments will receive quality care. This care includes symptom management and support from an interdisciplinary team for physical, spiritual, and emotional needs. Hospice addresses the needs as well as the goals of the resident and their circle of friends and family. The concept of Hospice House in Omaha was the brilliant idea of forward thinking Omaha hospital executives, physicians, community leaders and philanthropists. While elsewhere, there are hospice centers where different hospitals share in referring patients, there is nothing like Hospice House-the Josie Harper Residence, created and jointly supported as a multi-health system residence – where all systems are equal partners of Hospice House.
