To offer specialized medical attention, as well as psychological, spiritual and social care such that those affected with Hansen's disease receive dignified treatment.
About This Cause
Damien House Inc is a 501(c)(3) corporation chartered in the state of Illinois. However, all gifts are sent directly to La Fundación Padre Damián, a residential hospital in Guayaquil, Ecuador that treats those with Hansen's disease (leprosy). Damien House serves 30 inpatients and 162 outpatients with leprosy. Our mission is not only to provide holistic care to enable our patients to live a dignified life, but also to educate people on the facts of Hansen's disease to erode the still very negative stigma surrounding the disease. With the combination of loving care and education we can cure those already diagnosed and teach preventative measures that can eradicate this ancient illness.
