Mission Statement
HighSight is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide academic and social support to Chicago high school students. HighSight provides scholarships, tutoring, mentoring, leadership development and college readiness programs to enable its students to attend and succeed at the private high school of their choice.
About This Cause
HighSight's mission is to provide academic and social support to Chicago high school students. HighSight provides scholarships, tutoring, mentoring, leadership development and college readiness programs to enable its students to attend and succeed at the private high school of their choice. HighSight identifies prospective applicants through a network of schools, programs and community based organizations. Students from Chicago submit applications in the winter of their eighth-grade year. After completing the application, student finalists and their parents are interviewed by HighSight's selection committee. Qualifying students are then awarded partial four-year scholarships based upon financial need, character, attitude and academic potential. HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS: HighSight provides partial scholarships for students to attend quality private high schools in Chicago. ACADEMIC PROGRAM: HighSight scholars meet three times a week with adult volunteer mentors for academic support. COLLEGE PREPARATION: As the goal of every HighSight scholar is to attend college, HighSight provides a number of activities to help them achieve that goal, such as ACT preparation, application workshops and college fairs and visits. More than 97% of the HighSight graduates enroll in a four-year college. FRESHMAN SUMMER PROGRAM: Incoming freshman scholars take part in an intense, five-week academic program that emphasizes reading, math, writing and study skills. The program culminates with Freshman Week, where students work on team-building and leadership development. SOPHOMORE SUMMER PROGRAM: This summer experience is designed to assist students in making a positive transition to their second year of high school. Students focus in writing and character development while reading books on setting goals and planning for college. SUMMER LEADERSHIP PROGRAM: During this 10-session program, scholars focus on building self-confidence, improving leadership skills and enhancing their communication skills. The course starts with a two-day seminar at HighSight. INDEPENDENT SUMMER PROGRAMS: All of our rising fourth year students get to participate in an independent summer program. These include discovery and enrichment on college campuses, at elite boarding schools, and with international travel to nations around the world.
