Mission Statement
The Women’s Center of Southeastern Michigan is dedicated to the economic and emotional self-determination of women, girls, and families. Women in crisis have access to low-cost help from a therapist, job coach, divorce specialist, family law attorney, or financial adviser. When women have the tools to assert their economic and emotional strengths, families and communities also thrive.
About This Cause
MISSION The mission of The Women’s Center is to promote self-determination for women and all individuals regardless of gender identity or expression by providing mental health therapy and support services that build confidence, strengthen connections, and create positive change. We believe that gender discrimination is still common in our society and profoundly impacts emotional, economic, and physical health. We specialize in counseling across the gender spectrum, with an emphasis on trauma treatment. PROGRAMS ● Soundings - Sliding-Fee Therapy – High-quality, financially accessible therapy regardless of individual income or insurance status. ● Jumpstart – a one session therapy program to address identify and address mental health needs. ● Room To Talk –- Personal counseling program to better serve those with commercial health insurance as well as Medicare and Medicaid. ● MomShare – Free 90-minute drop-in support group every week that builds confidence and parenting skills, alleviates isolation, and helps pregnant or new moms manage perinatal depression and anxiety. ● Financial and Family Law – Educational workshops to help women deal with divorce. ● Going Solo support group for women recovering from the end of a long-term relationship. ● Career and Financial coaching – One-on-one coaching personalized for specific needs. ● Resource Navigation and Referral – to help individuals connect with more than 250 community resources. In 2023, we provided: 11,781 hours of individual personal counseling. 120 hours of free divorce education and support to help women through the loss of a long-term relationship. 49 MomShare support group sessions at no charge to build parenting skills and reduce social isolation for new moms with an attendance of 375. 93 sessions of affordable career coaching and financial coaching enabling individuals and families to get back on their feet.
