About This Cause
The Staten Island Multiple Sclerosis Group Inc. is a group of men and women who have been diagnosed with MS or who are trying to get information that will lead to a correct diagnosis of a condition that might be MS. Family members and friends are also welcomed members of our group. For many years we met monthly at a conference room at Staten Island Hospital on the fourth Monday evening of the month, then monthly meetings on a Thursday morning at the Elizabeth Connelly Center. Currently, weekly meetings and programs are conducted by Zoom. Our purpose is to give each other support and help in supplying information about MS symptoms and problems. We often have guest speakers such as doctors, physical therapists, pharmacists, yoga instructors or anyone else who can aid us for information on how to deal with MS. Another purpose is to get people with MS out to events and activities in the community. We sponsors dinners, trips to Atlantic City, theater outings, ball games, and other fun events in which part of the cost is paid by our group. We also hope to be a force in representing the needs and rights of the handicapped population on Staten Island to local officials and businesses. In the furtherance of these purposes, the corporation’s activities may include the provision of financial support and assistance, and the solicitation, collection, and raising of funds, donations, pledges, securities, obligations, gifts and property of any nature whatever.
