Mission Statement

Black Womxn United is dedicated to the empowerment, education and advancement of all Black womxn and gxrls.

About This Cause

Black Womxn United was founded in 2017, the pioneering founders recognized the 2017 International Women’s march had failed to create a space of diversity and inclusivity with intersectionality for Black womxnhood. (Which is why we spell “womxn and gxrls” with an “x”.) Our founders organized a march that put Black Womxn front and center, focusing on our needs. In 2017, the first ever Black Womxn’s March was held in Sacramento. Here’s a sample of our Programming: Black Queer and Here - a monthly mental wellness experience supporting the LGBTQ+ community Black Girls Matter-Summer camp featuring an educational and fun experience focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Math (STEAM) and community engagement and internships for college students with majors aligning to our work in the community. Work It Girl! A 3 month professional and personal development series for womxn and girls on topics like financial literacy and economic employment, networking, and creating your brand Throughout our organizational history we have been able to impact the community with meaningful personal and professional developmental experiences that support and partner with organizations including Ca Black Women’s Health Project, Sacramento Kings, and Museum of Science and Curiosity (MoSAC) just to name a few. We envision a community where ALL Black womxn and girls are equipped to lead and have equity in well-being, education, and economic empowerment Thank you for your generosity!
