Mission Statement

The Illinois Equal Justice Foundation strives to increase access to the civil justice system for vulnerable Illinoisans by leveraging state dollars to fund legal aid services across the state.

About This Cause

The Illinois Equal Justice Foundation (IEJF) was created in 1999 pursuant to the Illinois Equal Justice Act. The Foundation distributes funds to not-for-profit civil legal aid providers to support the type of projects identified in the Act including civil legal assistance, self-help legal assistance, telephone advice and referral services, mediation and legal information for the public. The IEJF also distributes state funds to support the IL Armed Forces Legal Aid Network, Eviction Help Illinois and New Leaf Illinois, a cannabis expungement legal aid network.
