Mission Statement
Our mission is to offer a no-kill solution for homeless animals through re-homing, rehabilitation and rescuing animals in our community. HHS educates the public on spay and neuters to cut down on the unwanted animal population. We give a free spay/neuter with every adoption. We are licensed to operate a private non-profit through the federal government and depend on fundraising to accomplish our mission. In the last 2 years we have helped over 1300 animals, 2020 is set to break all the records for intaking animals in need, COVID-19 has been rough on people and animals alike.
About This Cause
We are the only no-kill shelter in northern Michigan and have operated since 1980 helping animals in our area. HHS depends on the charity of the community to keep our doors open. We spay and neuter all animals with the help of local vets. The society also partners with other shelters who needs help getting animals adopted. We partner with PetSmart to find cats/kittens homes. To help raise money we run a shop call, Re-Tails it is stocked with upcycle donated goods.
