Coleman A. Young Foundation develops leadership among Detroit youth through scholarships, mentoring and other supports for their personal development.
About This Cause
Coleman A. Young Foundation (CAYF) is a college success organization that develops leadership through youth development for Detroit children between the ages of 11 and 18; and manages a scholarship and collegiate mentoring program. Established in 1982 by Detroit's first African-American Mayor, the organization has helped more than 500 Detroit youth access and graduate from college. CAYF Scholars have maintained a 90% graduation rate for the past 27 years, with 60% of its graduates returning to the Detroit metropolitan area to live and work.
