Mission Statement

The mission of AAFA-MI is to improve quality of life for individuals and communities affected by asthma and allergic diseases through education, training, advocacy, medical management, and environmental greening.

About This Cause

Founded in 1984, the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America – Michigan Chapter (AAFA-MI) is to improve quality of life for individuals affected by asthma and allergic diseases through education, training, advocacy, medical management, and environmental greening. We've done this through a variety of programs specially designed for the public as well as doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other clinicians. Our Chapter has a long history in partnering with local and national organizations to develop programs that have benefited the public by reducing exposure to environmental triggers and providing evidence-based education. Recently, our Chapter was honored by the AAFA National office with an "AAFA Chapter Innovation Award", in recognition for innovations in programming, specifically, our asthma home visiting program. This program provides in-home visits for high risk children in Detroit and elsewhere. Because of public support, AAFA-MI has been serving Michigan residents for over 30 years and we look forward to 30 more!
