Mission Statement
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Habitat has built 108 houses and counting in Monroe County since it began in 1995.
About This Cause
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit builder of affordable housing throughout the world. Here in the United States, Habitat affiliate organizations are one of the largest builders of single family homes. Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County builds energy star certified houses through partnerships with local and national companies, churches, the community, and individuals and families. Houses are sold with affordable mortgages to families in need of affordable housing. The families save toward a low down payment and put in 200 hours per adult of sweat equity, building homes, working in the ReStore, and taking financial and home maintenance classes.
