Mission Statement
In partnership with the Detroit Police Department and community volunteers, PAL helps youth find their greatness through athletic, academic, and leadership development programs. The success of the mission is determined by the development of five virtues of character in our young people which the organization has identified. They are: Purpose: Young person develops a positive view of their future Responsibility: Young person manifests respect for self and others by practicing self-control and being a good teammate. Integrity: Young person defines his/her own values and treats others in a manner consistent with them. Perseverance: Young person pursues goals despite adversity. Compassion: Young person recognizes the needs of the larger community and works to meet them.
About This Cause
Detroit PAL is a non-profit youth development organization that is positively impacting the lives of 12,000 children each year through athletic and enrichment programs. The organization empowers the community by training volunteer coaches, by creating safe places for kids to play, and by running quality programs that help youth find their greatness using the G.R.E.A.T. model of Goalsetting, Resilience, Embracing healthy lifestyles, Accountability, and Teamwork.
