Muskegon Family Care (MFC) is a not for profit, tax exempt 501(c) 3 corporation located in Muskegon Heights, Michigan in Muskegon County, and organized for the sole purpose of operating as a community health center.

About This Cause

MFC’s defined service area is comprised primarily of Muskegon County, an urban area situated on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan and nearly in the center north and south. The defined service area includes the cities of Muskegon, Muskegon Heights, Grand Haven, Spring Lake and Twin Lake as well as smaller communities of Fruitport, Ravenna, and Montague. The combined total population of the service area is approximately 221,000 with an underserved population of over 84,000. Many of the communities in the service area have over 50% underserved population with limited access to healthcare and transportation. MFC was established in 1994 as a community-owned, non-profit and in 1998 was awarded the change in status to FQHC Look Alike. In 2003, MFC became a 330 grantee and provides primary care including adult medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, geriatric care, behavior health and dental services to the underserved. MFC also provides social outreach programs, complementary and alternative care, preventative health services, patient and community health education and has established itself as a vital safety net provider in its primary service area. MFC has built a leading health care delivery system in Muskegon County that fills an important local health care role.
