Mission Statement
The PTO's mission is to make every Thurston child's potential a reality by serving, engaging and empowering our teachers, families and community to advocate for our children employing the core values of Diversity, Inclusion, Respect, Equity, Commitment and Accountability.
About This Cause
The Thurston PTO has been supporting the school for over 40 years. It raises financial support for classroom supplies, classroom field trips, classroom innovations. Additionally, it raises funds for after school and community events such as International Night, Science Olympiad, Thurston Nature Center, Winter Carnival, Bicycle Rodeo, the Thurston Pantry (providing food and other essentials to the most vulnerable of our families) and many more. The PTO finds that events and supports such as these foster a strong sense of community, a sense of belonging that supports learning in the classroom. Each year we host our major fundraiser -- a Fun Run which raises $16,000 for the school. While this is a solid amount of money, rising costs and more restricted education funding, means that we must look other places to find more financial support. The Thurston PTO believe that every child needs the full support of its community to succeed. Elementary school is the beginning of a journey and it is our hope that we help foster an environment that makes that journey possible for each student that passes through our doors. Thank you.
