Mission Statement

The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant (FPAP) is a 501(c)(3) museum dedicated to the preservation of the birthplace of the Model T and the interpretation and celebration of Detroit’s automotive heritage and spirit of innovation.

About This Cause

The Model-T Automotive Heritage Complex, Inc., dba Ford Piquette Avenue Plant, is one of the very oldest surviving automobile factories in the world. The factory is in the Milwaukee Junction area of Detroit, which was the home to many of the earliest automobile manufacturers in America and their suppliers. While most of those companies are lost to history, our mission is to tell the story of how they collectively gave the world the gift of mobility. This was the Silicon Valley of transportation innovation. Our museum tells the story of American ingenuity in the very place where it happened. Most museums today are modern facilities with wonderful artifacts. Our number-one artifact is the building. Piquette welcomes visitors from all over the world. Our collections include a fleet of about 65 vehicles - some of the rarest automobiles in the world. Educational programs engage people of all ages with the rich history of this U.S. National Historic Landmark.
