Mission Statement

Kindred Souls Foundation provides sanctuary to abandoned, abused, and neglected cats and dogs of all ages, a holistic approach to their care, and education on the rewards and responsibilities of animal companionship.

About This Cause

Our programs include Senior Companion, Medically Fragile, Special Needs, Animals of Domestic Violence, Intake Diversion, Adoption, and Foster. Our programs were designed to save animals at risk for being killed despite having quality of life. We match animals in need with people in the community who benefit from their companionship, but may not have the financial means, emotional support, physical ability, or educational knowledge to adopt and care for them without assistance. The animals come from high volume shelters, or other dire situations, and are given a forever home with the matched caregiver. Each program is designed to nurture a mutually rewarding relationship between rescue animal and caregiver with our ongoing support. Our ability to care for animals who have quality of life, but are in need of more than basic care, provides an alternate option when they are faced with being killed due to lack of space, appropriate treatment options, or funding. Shelter environments are not equipped to monitor and provide the heightened level of care to medically fragile animals. Senior and medically fragile animals are more difficult to adopt out due to the level of financial, emotional, and physical needs required. Our partnership with the Crystal Judson Family Justice Center in Pierce County helps the animals of domestic violence by providing spay/neuter services, vaccines, parasite treatment, food, re-designated supplies, and homes to relinquished animals under the supervision of Pierce County Animal Control. We are currently piloting additional services to this program to help survivors incorporate temporary care for their pets in their safety planning. Our Intake Diversion program focuses on keeping cats and dogs with their families and out of an already overburdened animal welfare system. We help homeless, low-income, and others who face barriers to animal food, supplies and basic medical care such as vaccines and spay/neuter.
