With skillful engagement, we strive to establish trusting relationships and meaningful connections so that individuals are empowered to find the voice to advocate for their needs and the confidence to pursue their aspirations. It is our hope that each person involved in our program learns to identify an authentic sense of self, develop and sustain healthy relationships, recognize and participate in safe communities and ultimately to live their lives with intention.
About This Cause
Parenting With Intent (PWI) is a local Non-Profit located in NE Portland. We serve Foster youth and Children and Families involved in Child Welfare. We are the largest professional mentorship program in the State of Oregon. Our youth Empowerment Services Program (YES) reaches 200 youth. The YES program is a long term Foster placement support, stabilization and mentorship program. This service is unique in that we provide long term mentorship and it is youth led. PWI mentors provide system navigation, school advocacy, access to educational services, conflict resolution, coping strategies, crisis management, independent living skills, placement support, and most importantly a trusting relationship. These mentors are often the only stable person in these youth’s lives.
