About This Cause
Great Rivers United Way is working to advance the common good and create opportunities for a better life for everyone in our seven-county service region: Buffalo, Crawford, La Crosse, Monroe, Trempealeau, and Vernon counties in Wisconsin, and Houston County in Minnesota. We partner with 26 non-profit agencies, and fund over 50 programs doing good work, right here in the Coulee Region. Great Rivers United Way focuses on the building blocks for a good life: EDUCATION – helping children and youth achieve their potential FINANCIAL STABILITY – promoting financial stability and independence HEALTH – improving people’s health COMMUNITY BASICS – providing access to basic needs like food, shelter, and safety We believe everyone deserves opportunities to have a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health. Advancing the common good is less about helping one person at a time and more about changing systems to help all of us. We are all connected and interdependent. We all win when a child succeeds in school, when families are financially stable, when people are healthy. United Way’s goal is to create long-lasting changes in the Coulee Region by addressing the underlying causes of these problems like food insecurity, financial instability, homelessness, kindergarten readiness, graduation rates, health disparities, accessing childcare, benefit eligibility and more. Living united means being a part of the change. It takes everyone in our community working together to create a brighter future.
