Family Service is an independent, non-profit counseling center that provides state-of-the-art psychotherapy, education, and advocacy services to anyone needing help at any age or stage of life.
About This Cause
Established in 1964, Family Service is an independent, nonprofit agency that strengthens families by providing mental health, abuse prevention and family wellness services including outpatient psychotherapy and education for anyone needing help at any age or stage of life. Family Service provides mental health counseling, assessment and treatment for children with mental health and behavioral disorders and their families, child victims of abuse and parents at-risk. Victim-centered group treatment in the Center for Prevention of Family Violence protects victims and produces behavior and attitude changes in domestic violence offenders, and skills training for parents helps ensure children maintain stability and a sense of family amidst parental divorce. The Counselor Training Program expands the mental health workforce by preparing master level graduate students and post-graduate students through evidence-based training and individual and group supervision. Family Service strives to remove barriers and improve access to mental health treatment, especially for individuals and families with financial need. On a case-by- case basis, financial hardship and courtesy discounts are negotiated to help clients who are uninsured, underinsured or low income receive, or remain in the mental health treatment services they need.
