About This Cause
United Community Center’s history is a rich one, rooted in dedicated community members working together to improve the lives of families on Milwaukee’s near Southside. From humble beginnings as a small teen center, UCC has grown to a full service, state-of-the art organization serving more than 14,000 people per year. Its ever-expanding range of programs and services remain a vital and important part of life to many Hispanics and Milwaukee residents. United Community Center’s mission is to provide programs to Hispanics and near south side residents of all ages in the areas of education, cultural arts, recreation, community development, and health and human services. UCC assists individuals to achieve their potential by focusing on cultural heritage as a means of strengthening personal development and by promoting high academic standards in all of its educational programs. Today, it is not uncommon to find a family whose child is enrolled at UCC’s Bruce-Guadalupe Community School, whose parents work-out at the fitness center, and whose grandparent’s attend the senior center. UCC is truly a total-family center.
