About This Cause

The Kids from Wisconsin is part of a Wisconsin tradition that goes back to its beginnings as a troupe formed in 1969 as part of the Wisconsin State Fair. The Kids from Wisconsin showcase the most talented youth in a full musical revue for all ages, consisting of 22 singer/dancers and a13 piece show band performing diverse, inspiring, entertaining musical productions as well as providing workshops in communities across the state. Many of the workshops are provided to underserved youth. In 2023 the Kids from Wisconsin have partnered with Feeding America. The summer tour will build awareness of food insecurity in each community they perform. The campaign is called "Forward Together from Stage to Table. The audiences in the Wisconsin communities the KIDS perform are families and people of all ages. The show is unique in the respect that it truly offers something for all ages. Workshops continue to empower creative and emotional growth of young people across the state. This collaborative, hands-on performing arts workshop focuses on building performance skills and making the arts enjoyable for our next generation. Whether the experience was a first introduction or a reinforcement, it played an important role in personal and artistic growth of young people in 20 communities, many who are underserved by the arts. Our goal is to build new audiences and develop long-term participation in arts and culture throughout Wisconsin communities. The Kids from Wisconsin is an organization that serves its communities in a variety of ways with broad, tangible impact and results.; Training and developing youth to be exceptional performers and leaders; and they in turn will reach a large audience of 120,000 people, often in locations that don’t have access to this caliber of high quality, family affordable entertainment. Each summer they connect with over 1,000 youth through "Realize Your Dream" workshops that inspire participants to pursue their dreams in the arts; youth ages 7-15 participate in team lead activities. Workshops are led by the KFW’s performers and staff. It brings youth together to create a positive narrative of performing arts awareness and will enhance the enjoyment of the arts for youth of all backgrounds. Workshops will:  Foster appreciation for the arts  Demonstrate diligence   Assist in building a younger audience demographic  The workshop focuses on providing an enjoyable arts experience for our next generation.  84% of Wisconsin elementary students receive music education, whereas only 5% of urban Milwaukee elementary students have the resources of music education in their schools. We developed the "Realize Your Dream" music residencies - "Music In Me" for elementary and "Music With My Friends" for middle school:  Residencies embrace Wisconsin’s standards for General Music Education. 12-sessions fill a gap by incorporating vocal, instrumental and movement principles and encourage self-confidence, spark creativity, and develop music appreciation through interaction. The residency opens the door to the importance of music in everyday life. Currently residencies are making a difference to over 3000 youth in the urban Milwaukee communities where the schools do not offer music education. Students celebrate their work by presenting an empowering public performance that leaves them feeling connected to their community through music.  Residences were vetted by professionals, educators, professors, and college students. Programs were piloted with documented success along with the ability to provide programing in a virtual classroom.  The KFW assist with local economic development in rural areas by bringing audiences to communities in which performances are held to assist hosts (Kiwanis, Lions, Rotaries and Arts Councils etc.) raise funds for community projects. In 2023 the Kids from Wisconsin have partnered with Feeding America. The summer tour will build awareness of food insecurity in each community they perform. The campaign is called "Forward Together from Stage to Table.
