Mission Statement
Danceworks’ mission is to enhance the joy, health and creativity of the community through performances, classes and outreach activities that integrate dance and other art forms.
About This Cause
Founded in 1992, Danceworks is committed to taking art and arts learning beyond the studio and theatre and into the community by creating work that resonates with diverse groups of people. Our accomplishments and growth are due to our continual pursuit of partnerships and strategic collaborations that are consonant with our mission. We continue to build relationships within the Milwaukee arts community and the broader community—constituencies and institutions throughout Greater Milwaukee. These relationships are at the heart of our ability to successfully identify and serve community needs. In 2014-15, Danceworks will serve more than 50,000 people, many of them children and older adults with limited access to the arts or arts education. Our multi-layered programs include dance and arts programming at more than 75 schools in Milwaukee County and surrounding communities (including MHBT and IMAP); studio classes for all ages and abilities; camps and workshops for youth; and dance performances by DPC and DYPC, as well as a performance platform called DanceLAB.
