Mission Statement

New Community Shelter’s mission is three-fold, we provide Emergency Shelter to adults experiencing homelessness; we have a Transitional Living Program for those individuals in need of additional help and resources while they transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency; and we have a Community Meal Program that offers meals to absolutely any man, woman or child who is hungry.

About This Cause

The New Community Shelter was established in 1994 to provide shelter & supportive services to homeless adult men & women in Brown County & surrounding areas. In addition to providing shelter, the board of directors & staff believe it is essential to offer supportive services and to empower the residents to access other community resources necessary for achieving self sufficiency. In addition to our Emergency Shelter Program, the New Community Shelter provides a Transitional Living Program; the facility offers 20 studio type apartments to support this program. The New Community Shelter’s Community Meal Program is always available to anyone in our community who is in need. Each evening a hot meal is provided—365 days per year. An additional noon meal is made available to all residents & the community on weekends & holidays. The New Community Shelter is an organization that provides Health and human services support. We are improving the physical and emotional well-being of people of all ages, and our focus areas include children and families, health and wellness, basic needs and self-sufficiency in our Community Meal Program by serving dinner 365 days a year and lunch every weekend and all holidays to children and adults that are hungry.
