Mission Statement
The Chippewa Valley Free Clinic provides health services and advocacy for the people of the Chippewa Valley who have no reasonable health care alternative.
About This Cause
Providing access to medical care is a fundamental human right that supports human dignity. The Chippewa Valley Free Clinic assures that low income, uninsured or under-insured people have access to basic health care services, chronic disease and mental health treatment, patient education, and self-advocacy counseling. Services are provided throughout the year in an established facility with regular hours staffed by medical professionals, collaborative partners, and community volunteers. Our patients are uninsured, under-insured and without reasonable health care alternatives. Eligible patients have incomes at or below 200% of the federal poverty level (the equivalent of a full time job earning $11.42 per hour, or $23,760 annually for a single person). Our Basic Health Services diagnosis and treat acute and basic health care ailments. We carefully treat and monitor chronic disease patients, such as those with hypertension,diabetes, asthma/COPD, hyperlipidemia, heart disease and hypothyroidism. We provide medications, preventative care education, and immunizations. Our Mental Health Clinic provides psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis and a treatment plan, including medication, counseling and interventions and advance treatment referrals. The Vision Care Program provides eye examinations, free eyeglass vouchers, and treatment with follow-up care. Our Dental Care program is our newest program that provides dental exams, dental cleanings, and basic dental services such as extractions and fillings. Access to health care relieves the anxiety people feel when they have undiagnosed health conditions. To the poor, it means they are valued enough to be treated like any other citizen, regardless of their income or circumstances. The Clinic provides according to need without discrimination based on race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or residency; treating patients with compassion and a non-judgmental attitude.
