Mission Statement
The mission of the Wisconsin Women's Health Foundation is to innovate, impact and improve women's health.
About This Cause
The Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation (WWHF) is a nonprofit organization that provides health services and education for women and families. Our services are available throughout the state, in all 72 counties and are always free and accessible to anyone who needs them. WWHF services and research initiatives are rooted in evidence-based prevention and focus on getting individuals the resources and support they need. We focus on the diseases, conditions, and areas with the greatest impact on Wisconsin women’s wellness. Our Programs & Partnerships: First Breath is Wisconsin’s program to help pregnant, postpartum, and caregiving individuals become and stay substance-free. First Breath has provided evidence-based tobacco treatment services to nearly 24,000 pregnant and postpartum individuals since its inception. In 2022, First Breath expanded beyond tobacco to provide screening, education, and early intervention services to pregnant people who use alcohol, cannabis, illicit substances, and misuse prescription drugs. GrapeVine is a community-based chronic disease prevention program that helps Wisconsin residents achieve their healthiest potential. GrapeVine partners with local healthcare professionals and connects directly with community members to share relevant, reliable, accessible health information, support, and connection to local resources. The Well Badger Resource Center connects people in Wisconsin with the health and social services they need and deserve. This is accomplished in two ways 1) one-on-one information and referral services from Certified Resource Specialists, and 2) an online, searchable directory of over 5,000 verified health and social services. In 2021, Well Badger launched the Children's Mental Health Navigator, an online, personalized tool to help caregivers navigate children’s mental and behavioral health services. WWHF is a community partner on two Community & Cancer Science Network projects aimed at improving breast and lung cancer disparities across Wisconsin. The Mammographic Quality Initiative examines the mammographic process through various lenses. The goal is to build long term solutions that result in more patients being diagnosed at earlier stages. The Collaborative Work Groups are looking to design solutions for breast and lung cancer that better address local issues and causes of cancer disparities in Wisconsin.
