Mission Statement

We provide Christ-centered, life-changing pathways for all people who are experiencing homelessness, hunger and addiction.

About This Cause

Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities (UGMTC) opened its doors more than 120 years ago to feed, shelter and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with Saint Paul dock workers, laborers and lumberjacks. Through the years, our programming evolved to meet the changing needs of men, women and children experiencing hunger, homelessness and addiction. Our emergency shelter provides guests with food, safe shelter, clothes, basic needs and vital care. Guests also have access to free, on-site professional mental health care, supportive services with licensed social workers, chaplain support, adult education and assistance finding employment. Guests can then move into one of our transitional programs for men, women and women with children that support individuals as they get back on their feet. These wraparound programs offer free, on-site professional mental health care, chaplains and faith formation, substance use recovery, adult education, job-skills training, financial-skills training, assistance gaining meaningful employment, and more. This holistic approach creates a solid foundation for people to move into safe housing and lead stable lives.
