Mission Statement

Imagine if area families and loved ones didn’t have the facilities, technology or skilled doctors to turn to at Ridgeview. Without these significant facilities, Ridgeview couldn’t enhance the lives of those entering our world, or those leaving it. But the future of Ridgeview is challenged. With the changing face of health care, margins are shrinking. Our area’s population is rapidly growing and becoming more diverse. Ridgeview’s leadership, doctors, nurses and staff will continue to strive for more and better care, facilities and technology. Support from donors is more important now than ever before. In addition to providing funding for Ridgeview programs and services, Ridgeview Foundation serves as the parent organization for the Pay It Forward Fund (PIFF). PIFF is a non-profit fund that helps breast and women’s cancer patients pay basic living expenses while they go through treatment so they can focus on what’s really important - getting healthy. PIFF works with 20 local hospitals in Minnesota and does not have a paid employee of the fund, so 100% of your donation will be used to pay patient bills.

About This Cause

Founded in 1978, Ridgeview Foundation has made an indelible impact by helping Ridgeview deliver on its mission to enhance the health of people it serves by creating a culture that nurtures the whole person: mind, body and spirit. The Foundation, an independent, nonprofit organization, is guided by a volunteer board of directors whose members are representative of communities within Ridgeview’s service area. Together, staff and the boards of directors of the Foundation and Ridgeview collaborate to identify funding priorities. View a list of projects philanthropy has funded at Ridgeview. Pay It Forward Fund: The Pay It Forward Fund was founded in 2005 by Michelle Morey, a breast cancer survivor, and her husband, Scott Bissen. Ever since their first donation was used to turn a patient’s water back on, they have been passionate about helping other women who are undergoing cancer treatment. Since then, the fund has helped patients buy groceries, pay their mortgages, heat their homes, keep their lights and water on, and repair their cars so they can drive to chemo. For hundreds of women in need, these gifts have made a difference at a time of crisis. Jean Pupkes, one of the clinical nurse specialists, understands that it’s difficult for women to ask for help or even accept help when it’s offered. However, if a patient knows that they will someday “pay it forward” by helping another woman going through treatment, it enables them to accept the help that they need. Some recipients have paid it forward by donating to our fund, while others do so in more tangible ways like offering rides, preparing meals, volunteering to help with childcare, or making phone calls or sending cards to show their support.
