Mission Statement
The Wildlife Science Center is a STEM education center that uses rescued wildlife to teach lessons to K-12, post-secondary, graduate, and adult learners. Studies of the animals connect students to real-life, experiential learning.
About This Cause
The Wildlife Science Center (WSC) is home to many of Minnesota's native predators-black bears, gray wolves, mountain lions, coyotes, red fox, gray fox, bobcats, lynx, and raptors. In addition, the WSC is a national partner in the Mexican gray wolf and Red wolf reintroduction and recovery projects. Students and visitors experience close-up, true-to-life observations of wild animals. Licensed science teachers develop STEM curriculum for K-12, which is aligned with standards, and offer experiential learning opportunities. WSC offers experiences from summer camp, day and night programs year round, scout programs, school programs off and on site, adult programs, community education, and plan-it-yourself experiences, all with the backdrop of howling wolves and Minnesota outdoors. WSC also provides chemical immobilization training to wildlife professionals from all around the world. One example of a past client is the recovery team for the Yellowstone wolf reintroduction.
