ST PAUL URBAN TENNIS PROGRAM

Saint Paul, Minnesota, 55106 United States

Mission Statement

We strengthen our community by educating and empowering youth to realize their full potential.

About This Cause

Established in 1991 as a summer parks program to teach life skills through tennis instruction, Saint Paul Urban Tennis (SPUT) offers tennis, education, leadership and employment programs throughout the year. SPUT serves kids ages 5-18 with tennis instruction at 30+ sites, Academic Creative Engagement camps (tennis, reading, writing, math) aimed at combatting the summer slide, extended day learning with partner schools, and a leadership development program for high school students focused on job readiness. SPUT works effectively through partnerships with the City of St. Paul, St. Paul Parks and Recreation, and St. Paul Public Schools to provide enrichment opportunities for urban youth living in poverty. Programming is provided in neighborhoods and schools where the target population lives so that it is easily accessible. The organization is also a member of the Sprockets Network, benefitting from tools and training aimed at advancing the quality of out-of-school time programs. SPUT grants scholarships and awards to promote participation of low-income youth in its programs. Learn more at www.stpaulurbantennis.org.
