Mission Statement

ASSISTANCE LEAGUE MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL volunteers transforming the lives of children and adults through community programs. VISION: Essential needs are met in our community and our families flourish.

About This Cause

The Minneapolis/St. Paul chapter is one of 120 Assistance League chapters nationwide. Our 223 member volunteers operate our programs and provide more than 31,000 volunteer hours each year. Working closely with our partner school districts in Minneapolis, St. Paul and Richfield, we strive to boost educational outcomes by addressing underlying issues that impact low-income families and students. Our programs help students achieve success by providing new school clothing, sending food home for the weekends, encouraging a love of reading and encouraging participation in other enrichment programs. Each year, Assistance League Minneapolis/St. Paul serves more students, growing from 24,000 in the 2018-19 school year to more than 33,000 in 2022-23. In nearly 25 years of service Assistance League has impacted over 181,000 students. For nearly 25 years, we have provided clothing and toiletries to 120 Minnesota hospital emergency rooms for 35,539 survivors of sexual assault. Since becoming a chapter in 1996, we have raised $5,630,545 for our community and have volunteered more than 533,300 hours. In 2022-23, 90%, $468,000, of our fundraising went back to our community. Funds for our programs are generated from our Assistance League Thrift Shop, as well as grants and donations from individuals and community supporters.
