Risen Christ Catholic School is a bilingual, multicultural and financially accessible school of excellence, educating children in mind, body and spirit to live and lead in the example of Jesus Christ.
About This Cause
Risen Christ is a K-8 school located in the Powderhorn Park neighborhood of south Minneapolis. We serve more low-income students (92% qualify for free/reduced price lunch) and a higher percentage of Latino students (90%) than any other Catholic school in the Twin Cities. As such, 98.8% of families receive tuition assistance, and tuition income represents only 9.5% of Risen Christ’s annual budget. Over 75% of Risen Christ’s Latino students are English Language Learners (ELL). In order to provide an educational program that is equitable for our largely Latino population, Risen Christ began transitioning to a dual immersion model in 2014. Risen Christ is the first dual immersion Catholic school in the state of Minnesota, and an original member of the Two-Way Immersion Network for Catholic Schools based out of Boston College’s Lynch School of Education.
