Mission Statement
Project Success is a non-profit youth development organization that motivates and inspires young people to dream about the future, helps them take steps to get there and gives them the tools they need to achieve their goals.
About This Cause
We believe the key to success exists within each student if empowered to unlock it. Minnesota faces very real inequities between students’ access to developmental experiences and relationships that prepare them for future success. For 30 years, Project Success has helped students connect to their purpose through a proven method of experiential learning called DIG – Dream. Ignite. Grow. Our programs have been proven effective in helping, students Dream Big, Ignite Possibilities and Grow Exponentially into inspired individuals ready for success. Currently, we work with every 6-12th grade student in the Minneapolis Public School District. • Workshops – In-class activities guide cumulative development, gaining tools, purpose, and confidence. Each month, a Project Success facilitator guides experiential programming that complements students’ academic work. • Arts – Theater experiences create a springboard for discussion, inviting risk-taking and possibility. Professional theater performances, middle school musicals, residencies, and more. • Expeditions – Adventure trips to colleges, workplaces, cities, and nature settings open new perspectives for one’s potential in the world. • Institute– Certificates and programs build critical life and career skills that enrich one’s independence. Offerings have included programming in coding, bike tech, money management, cooking, baking, performing arts, and more. Together, these components — delivered within Project Success’ proven methodology — inspire thousands of students each year to dream big, ignite possibilities and grow into inspired individuals ready for success. Building on 30 years of success and impact, Project Success increases student skills and motivation, leading to deeper engagement and increases in academic performance: • 90% of students report that Project Success helps them set goals and create a plan for after graduation. • 96% of teachers report that Project Success helps students set goals for the future. "Project Success works. We see statistically significant positive gains in on-time graduation rates, attendance and most importantly grade point average, which is the greatest predictor of future success." - Eric Moore, Senior Accountability, Research and Equity Officer, Minneapolis Public Schools Serving 15,000+ students in all Minneapolis Public Schools. • 21% English Learners • 16% Special Education • 57% Free/Reduced Lunch • 38% African American/Black • 6% Asian • 3% Indigenous/Alaskan Native • 19% Hispanic/Latino • 33% White • 1% Two or more races Uniquely positioned for greater impact: • 30 years of experience • Statistically significant proven results • Access to each student in every school • Longitudinal 7-year model • Strong relationships and partnerships • Demand for program expansion • High quality, effective operations • Highly developed access services for equity • Award-winning leadership Commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility: In all Project Success programming we work diligently to break down barriers to access for students through: Free Programs: The majority of our programs are offered free of cost. Programs with costs associated offer scholarship opportunities, ensuring no student is turned away due to cost. Transportation: We provide access to transportation to and from our programming for those who need it, thanks to an incredible team of volunteer drivers, contractors, and PS staff. Staffing: Project Success Facilitators attend Expeditions with students, integrating PS curriculum throughout the experience and being a welcoming, familiar face for students. Individualized Curriculum: Our staff build curriculum that is tailored to each individual student, mindful of their abilities, spoken languages, and more. Childcare: For Theater Experiences, we help to ensure families can attend evening and weekend performances by providing childcare to those who are too young to attend a particular show. A Bold Vision: Project Success will double and deepen our impact through three program initiatives, funded by the Dreams to Futures Program Expansion Campaign. 1. Expand in Minneapolis to serve all students in grades 6-12. 2. Launch new programs through the Project Success Institute. 3. Test and build innovative partnerships for wider impact.
