We are Como Friends. Our mission is to inspire community generosity to advance Como Park Zoo & Conservatory as a destination where people from all walks of life can gather, learn and enjoy the natural world. There’s a treasure in our backyard. The Como Park Zoo & Conservatory - owned by all, enjoyed by all, and free to all.
About This Cause
Como Friends is the non-profit partner that helps Como Park Zoo & Conservatory thrive. Since 2000, Como Friends has infused $34 million into Como. Dollars raised by Como Friends enhance facilities, preserve architecture, develop educational programs, and improve plants and the lives of animals. Funds support: 1. keeping Como FREE OF CHARGE 2. Major capital improvements like Polar Bear Odyssey, Gorilla Forest and The Ordway Gardens 3. Expanded daily education programs that are offered free of charge for school groups 4. Best practices in animal care and horticulture Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is the country's last completely free metro area zoo and botanical garden, a beloved community treasure that now welcomes more than 2 million visitors every year--the largest audience of any cultural institution in the state of Minnesota.
