Mission Statement
NECHAMA, rooted in the Jewish value of Tikkun Olam, repairing the world, provides comfort and hope to communities by engaging volunteers in disaster recovery work.
About This Cause
NECHAMA responds to natural disasters across the United States from our headquarters in Minnesota. We organize, train, and equip our volunteers to prepare and respond to natural disasters. We assess storm damage; sandbag; chainsaw and remove fallen trees; pump floodwater from rooms and basements; remove contaminated building materials, appliances, and personal effects; sanitize and dry surfaces to prevent mold growth, and otherwise prepare homes to be reoccupied by the owners so that reconstruction may begin. Our volunteer's hard work and caring help restore a sense of normalcy for communities and those affected by a disaster.
