Mission Statement
Our mission at Project It Takes A Village, Inc. (PiTaV, Inc.) is to create programs and activities that promote the emotional and physical well-being of youth and their families who are vulnerable because of structural inequalities. Because we believe that change is generational, we partner with like-minded groups to impact lives positively, stand as a visible commitment to equipping youth with the resources required to be effective citizens of the world.
About This Cause
We started in 2004 as an entrepreneurship class project at Syracuse University under the guidance of Dr. Morris with the support of Prof Deborah Kenn and The Office of Clinical Legal Education. Since then, we have supported children from Glen View I and 4 Primary Schools as well as Glen View High 2. Because we are 100% volunteer run, donated funds go directly to serve the needs of the children. *As of now, we only support children who have been taken in by their extended family but it is our hope and desire to expand our services to those on the streets as well. * We also offer only primary and high school fees as a basis to keep our children motivated but with continued growth, we hope to fund their college education as well should they desire to pursue it. * We hope to offer more support in the form of a feeding program as our children not only find it challenging to find school fees, but some attend school hungry. * Finally, we not only acknowledge the scholarly, social, political work of activists dedicated to social causes such vulnerable children, but we tailor our fundraising activities to be enriching to our sponsors. In the past, we have presented a platform to forge alliances and cultural exchange through music, workshops and with added support we plan to further this aspect.
