About This Cause

St. Ambrose University (SAU), founded in 1882, is a private, comprehensive, liberal arts university affiliated with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Davenport. SAU offers sixty undergraduate majors, twelve master’s level and three doctoral programs through its three academic colleges. SAU attracts a diverse student body that includes women (58%), minority students (17.4% self-identified), part-time students (21%) and graduate students (25%). The student faculty ration is 11:1 and the average class size is twenty students. St. Ambrose is recognized as one of the region’s largest employers by the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce. SAU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The University’s general education curriculum seeks to develop the whole person in a student-centered environment that stays true to the Catholic Intellectual Tradition.
