Mission Statement
Blessman International, their donors and volunteers bring to South Africa children and their families God’s love and eternal hope through faith formation and locally sustainable programs that feed hungry people, foster food-secure communities, offer dignity through provision of basic water and sanitation, and provide opportunities for children development and learning.
About This Cause
Blessman International was founded by Doctor Jim and Beth Blessman as a non-profit organization in 2001. Operations are split between Urbandale, IA and Limpopo South, Africa with all ministry work being carried out in south Africa. Blessman International serves local communities in South Africa through feeding programs, orphan care, clean drinking water, safe sanitation, compassionate ministries, church planting and job creation. Blessman International focuses a majority of resources on children 5-25 years of age. Our belief is to empower the future leaders of South Africa through education and fostering relationships with Christ that goes far beyond their physical needs to break the cycle of hopelessness and poverty. Vision Within the next ten years, every child in Limpopo, South Africa, will have access to food, water and sanitation, and hope through Jesus Christ. Each program is designed to meet a physical need. Within each program, we have built a method to enrich their future. Our purpose We operate with integrity and are good stewards of the resources we have been given – membership with Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA), and an active board. We provide fundamental basic human rights of clean drinking water, food and basic safe sanitation (wells, toilets, Meals From the Heartland). We strive to provide long-term solutions and break the cycle of poverty with job creating and a hand-up, rather than a hand-out. We focus on child development to guide and grow the future leaders of South Africa through Del Cramer Children’s Campus, International Leadership Academy, and service within the public schools. We continue to build a foundation of teaching life skills through career development teaching on the farm and partnership with local universities (Iowa Sate University and the University of Limpopo).
